Michael was born on December 27, 1969, to George Jackson Sr. and Ernestine English of Akron, OH. He and his brothers were raised by their grandparents, Jacob and Marie Jackson. Marie bought Michael a piano, which Michael later used to further develop his deep love of music. Michael was self-taught because he couldn’t read sheet music, but he could mimic every note.
Michael graduated from Garfield High School, Class of 1986, in Akron, Ohio, where he was named “Most Accomplished.” Throughout his life, he lived up to this superlative and even surpassed it. He was a musical genius.
Michael married his first wife, Victoria Jackson, and together they used their home to create a music studio where he could focus on his projects. It was from this home studio that his career as a phenomenal keyboardist and musician began.
After attending a Jodeci concert at the Akron Civic Theatre, Michael had a tape of his music and was allowed to present it to Jodeci’s DeVante. From that moment the two stayed in touch and the rest is music history. (Interview about its creation is available on YouTube).
Later in his career, Michael became a musical director and continued to travel, teach, and share his knowledge and love of music. He constantly draws on his musical inspirations such as Roger Troutman, Junie Morrison, and George Clinton. Michael called himself a “one-take man”, meaning he would get it right the first time, just like the musicians who inspired him. Michael C. Jackson Obituary
In addition to his talent, which is greater than words can express, Michael was a wonderful person. He was a great artist, had such a playful personality and so much wisdom and passion for the people and things he truly loved. He was a loving son, proud father, grandfather and friend.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, George Jackson Sr., his grandparents, Jacob and Marie Jackson, and his grandson, Tristan Brown.
Michael is survived by his mother, Ernestine English, and four brothers, George Jr., Duane, Derrick, and Anthony.
Michael is also survived by his grandchildren Makaila, Tiah, and Malachi Thompson-Pickett, Ta’Vyn Brown, Sevyn Jackson, and Logan and Lyric Whited.
I can see the music change and the audience move without me putting my hands on it. You can see the joy on their faces and how they sway to the music. Michael C. Jackson Obituary
